Give ChatGPT your lifting, not just your workout minutes
Published November 3, 2026
ChatGPT can connect to Apple Health on iPhone, but a lifting session there is a workout: its type, time, heart rate and calories. The sets aren't in it. Log them on Apple Watch in RIRLift, then send your training to ChatGPT from the app, or with Pro connect it so ChatGPT reads your weights, reps and reps left whenever you ask.

What ChatGPT needs to talk about your lifting
-
Sets logged where you lift
On the Watch, each set is weight, reps and how many you had left, prefilled from last time and confirmed with a tap. That per-set log is what an answer about your bench has to start from.
-
Apple Health keeps the session
RIRLift saves each finished session to Apple Health as a workout: Traditional Strength Training, its time, and the heart rate and calories your Watch recorded. The sets stay in RIRLift.
-
Send a question in two taps, free
In Ask your AI, pick Analyze my training, Ask about one lift, Draft me a program or Check my recovery. RIRLift packs your training for that question, and you choose ChatGPT in the share sheet.
-
Or a live connection, with Pro
Connect ChatGPT once and it reads your training when you ask: volume per muscle, strength trends, how your reps left matched the plan, recovery, routines and recent workouts. Setup takes a minute on a computer: connect ChatGPT.
-
Programs come back for review, with Pro
With ChatGPT connected, ask for a program and it arrives in RIRLift under Ask your AI as a draft. Nothing changes until you import it, and then it runs from the Watch.
Questions answered from Watch-logged sets
Why has my bench stalled?
Four weeks of upper/lower logged on the Watch. Pro, ChatGPT connected; you ask from a laptop at home.
| Exercise | You logged | Next session | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Barbell Bench Press | 185 lb, 6 / 6 / 5 reps, 1 left, third session in a row | 165 lb × 6 if you tap Deload | No new rep in three sessions: the recap offers about 10% lighter, 185 × 0.9 ≈ 165. ChatGPT reads the same three sessions. |
| Incline Dumbbell Press | 60 lb, 10 / 10 / 10 reps, 2 left | 65 lb × 8 | Every set at the top of 8–10: one step up. ChatGPT sees this lift still moving, so the stall is the bench, not chest work. |
The answer started from your sets and your reps-left accuracy, not from a template, and the deload was still yours to accept.
Draft me a three-day program
New to RIRLift after a year off. Pro, ChatGPT connected: it drafts a plan, you import it, and the first session runs from the Watch.
| Exercise | You logged | Next session | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hack Squat | 90 lb (Estimate), 15 reps, nothing left | 100 lb × 8 | A new lift starts light, and one max-reps set measures you: 90 × 44 ÷ 39 ≈ 101, rounded to the stack. |
| Lat Pulldown | 70 lb (Estimate), 16 reps, nothing left | 80 lb × 8 | Same measurement set: 70 × 45 ÷ 39 ≈ 81, rounded to 80. |
ChatGPT picked the exercises; it didn't have to guess your weights. The Watch set them from your first set.
Is my week balanced? Asked on the free tier
A heavy leg week logged on the Watch. No Pro: you tap Check my recovery on the iPhone and share it to the ChatGPT app.
| Exercise | You logged | Next session | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leg Press | 270 lb, 12 / 11 / 10 reps, nothing left (target 10) | 270 lb × 11 | The weakest set hit today's target. Same weight, one more rep. |
| Seated Leg Curl | 100 lb, 15 / 15 / 15 reps, 2 left | 110 lb × 10 | Top of 10–15 on every set: one step up on the stack, reps back to 10. |
ChatGPT got your weekly volume and recovery for that one question. The weights above were set by RIRLift either way.

-
Ask about one lift
Use Ask about one lift and pick the exercise, so the answer is about that lift. With Pro, ChatGPT gets every set you've logged as a file, not just the last few weeks.
-
Log reps left honestly
ChatGPT can see how your reps left tracked against your targets. Consistent calls make that comparison worth reading.
-
Import drafts, then let the Watch run them
Review a ChatGPT draft under Ask your AI, fix any exercise it couldn't match, and import. The weights come from your sets from the first session on.
-
Disconnect any time
Open Connect your AI and tap Disconnect. ChatGPT loses access and RIRLift deletes the training data it uploaded.
Questions
Can ChatGPT see my sets and reps from Apple Health?
Not from Apple Health. RIRLift saves the workout there, with its time, heart rate and calories, and keeps the sets in the app. Send your training from RIRLift, or connect ChatGPT with Pro, to give it the sets.
What does a connected ChatGPT receive from RIRLift?
A summary of your training when you ask: volume per muscle, strength trends, effort accuracy, recovery, your routines and recent workouts with exercise names, loads, reps and reps left. Never your heart rate or anything from Apple Health, your name, email or private notes.
Is the ChatGPT connection free?
Sending a question with the last few weeks of your training is free. The live connection, and your whole history as a file, need Pro.
Can ChatGPT change my program?
No. A program it drafts arrives in RIRLift for you to review. Nothing changes until you import it.
Do I need a computer to connect ChatGPT?
For the live connection, yes: ChatGPT adds custom connectors on the web, not in its mobile app. Sharing a question from RIRLift works from your iPhone.
